Although the story of the Sanguo primarily focuses on Han nationality, non-Han characters also make　appearances. However, previous research on Yoshikawa’s “Sangokushi” does not seem to focus on the depiction of these non-Han characters.Therefore, this paper identifies non-Han characters appearing in both “Sanguozhi Yanyi” and Yoshikawa’s “Sangokushi” and conducts a comparative analysis of the characters Meng Huo, Lady Zhurong, and King Mulu. As a result, it was found that 24 non-Han characters appear in “Sanguozhi Yanyi” and 20 in Yoshikawa’s “Sangokushi.” Additionally, the analysis of character depictions in both works revealed that Yoshikawa’s “Sangokushi” adds new characteristics to the non-Han characters, or sometimes emphasizing the original images in a positive direction. This suggests that Yoshikawa Eiji held a proactive attitude towards non-Han characters.
